Eligibility Criteria (Applicant must be aged 18 or above with the right of abode in Hong Kong)

  • Type A : Individual or family awaiting Public Rental Housing (PRH) for no less than 3 years *
  • Type B : Family with special housing needs (e.g. living in inadequate conditions etc.)

*Applicants’ household information (a family of 1 to 6 members) must be as same as that of contained in their PRH application.

Vetting Procedure and Screening Arrangement

1. Arrangement of Vetting Interview for Type A Applicants

  • Computer balloting will be held to determine the priority for the arrangement of vetting interviews (for both shortlisted and waiting lists).
  • The ballot result will be posted up at khw.pokoi.org.hk; unsuccessful applicants will not be notified separately.
  • Applicants and their family members will be invited to attend the vetting interviews according to the priority drawn above. Eligible applicants will be entered the flat allocation procedure.

2. Arrangement of Vetting Interview for Type B Applicants

  • Applicants and their family members will be interviewed and assessed by POH’s registered social workers. Assessment criteria include basic particulars, financial status, location of school/ workplace, current dwelling condition, special educational needs, financial plan, move-out plan, willingness to reside in Pok Oi Kong Ha Wai Village and other imminent housing needs.
  • Eligible applicants will be invited to attend the flat allocation session, flat will be allocated (randomly assigned by computer) to applicants according to their assessment scores (from high to low) while stocks last.

3. Flat Allocation

  • Successful applicants will only have one chance for flat allocation.
  • If applicant accepts the allocated flat, he/she will be arranged to sign the Licence Agreement and to settle the required payments.
  • If applicant gives up the allocated flat voluntarily, he/she can choose to roll over his/her application to the next round’s application (i.e. Phase 2 of Pok Oi Kong Ha Wai Village).
  • If there is (are) allocated flat(s) being voluntarily given up by other eligible applicant(s), the applicants in the waiting list will be invited for flat allocation according to the predetermined priority (Type A applicants are determined by the aforementioned computer balloting; Type B applicants are determined by the assessment scores) while stocks last.

4. Other Important Notes

  • Applicants and their family members aged 18 or above who are invited to attend the vetting interviews shall bring along all the required supporting documents (both the originals and a set of photocopies) for qualification vetting and verification.
  • If any required document is missing, the application will be delayed or will not be processed.
  • Applicant who fails to attend the vetting interview shall be deemed to have given up his/her application.
  • Applicants who do not receive any notification 5 months from the closing date may consider their applications unsuccessful.
  • In case of doubt or discrepancy between English version and Chinese version of this application, the Chinese version shall prevail.

Submitting Application Form

1. Online Application

1.1 Applicant can complete and submit an online application at https://khw.pokoi.org.hk before the closing date.

1.2 If an online application is submitted successfully, applicant does not need to mail the application form to POH. Repeated applications will NOT be considered.

2. By Email

2.1 Applicant can submit the application form by email to khw-apply@pokoi.org.hk

3. By Post

3.1 Applicant can submit the application form by post to “UG/F, POH Jockey Club Care & Attention Home Building, Au Tau, Yuen Long, New Territories”. Please write on the envelope “Application for Pok Oi Hospital Transitional Housing Project - Pok Oi Kong Ha Wai Village”

3.2 Applications delivered to POH after the closing date (the postmark date will be regarded as the application date by post) due to insufficient postage or returned to the applicants by post office will not be processed.

4. In Person

4.1 Applicant can submit the application form by hand to “G/F, POH Jockey Club Care & Attention Home Building, Au Tau, Yuen Long, New Territories”. Please write on the envelope “Application for Pok Oi Hospital Transitional Housing Project - Pok Oi Kong Ha Wai Village”

4.2 Office hours are 9:00 am – 6:00 pm (Monday to Friday, except public holidays)

Closing Date for Submission of Application

Acknowledgment of Receipt

  • SMS notification will be sent to applicant upon his/her submission for online application.
  • For applications submitted via email, post or in person, SMS notification will be sent to applicants within 7 days after the closing date.

Important Notes:

  1. Applicants please read the application guidance notes and this important notes carefully before completing the application form. Should you have any queries, please contact the Board of Directors of Pok Oi Hospital (“POH”).
  2. Applicants please provide all the information required in the application form and prepare relevant supporting documents for vetting interview (if applicable).
  3. Applicants can submit application via: (i) Online Application (khw.pokoi.org.hk); (ii) Email (khw-apply@pokoi.org.hk); (iii) By Post; or (iv) In Person (please write on the envelope “Application for Pok Oi Hospital Transitional Housing Project - Pok Oi Kong Ha Wai Village”)
  4. Upon receipt of application, POH will notify the applicant of his/her application number via SMS message.
  5. Applicant can only submit one application for his/her family. Duplicated application will not be accepted.
  6. Please refer to the application guidance notes for the arrangement of vetting interview and result announcement.
  7. If any applicant (including his/her family members) is found liable for violating the “Prevention of Bribery Ordinance of Hong Kong”, POH will report to ICAC and will not accept his/her application.
  8. POH reserves the right to change, update and/or revise the information contained in this application form at any time without prior notice and without incurring any obligation whatsoever.
  9. POH reserves the right for the final decision on flat allocation.

Application Guidance Notes

Basic Facilities

  • 4-storey residential blocks constructed with MiC units, no provision for lift.
  • Separate areas for toilet, shower and kitchen will be provided in each flat.
  • Gas water heater, exhausted fan and window-type air conditioner will be installed in each flat (subject to the domestic appliance items stipulated on the Licence Agreement).
  • No parking space will be provided.

Licence Fee (i.e. Rent)

  • The monthly rent (including management fee and rates) will refer to the rent allowance of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme and will not exceed 25% of PRH’s maximum income limit for the corresponding family size.
    • Upon signing the Licence Agreement (i.e. the Lease), the tenant shall pay the rent deposit (equivalent to two months’ rent), advance rent (equivalent to one month’s rent) and Stamp Duty.
    • The Stamp Duty shall be borne by Pok Oi Hospital and the tenant in equal shares.
    • Utilities expenses, such as electricity, water, gas and broadband, etc., shall be borne solely by the tenant.

Licence Period (i.e. Lease Period)

  • 2 years (might have an option to renew)

Terms and Conditions for Using the Modular Flat (Subject to the Licence Agreement)

  • The premises is for residential purposes only; applicant cannot assign or sublet the flat and cannot take in any lodger during the lease period.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the flat
  • No cooking in naked flame is permitted in the flat
  • No animal or pet is permitted in the flat
